Stephanie Kay Jenkins Hobson was born May 15, 1967, in Pearl, Mississippi to Deacon Obadiah Jenkins, Sr. and the late Edna M. Jenkins. Stephanie accepted Christ at an early age at Sweet Rest Church of Christ (Holiness) U.S.A., where she was a faithful and active member of the Sunday School as Secretary, Usher Board, Young Adult Choir, CWWW #2, Local and District Choirs and the Kitchen Committee with her best friend and mother. On November 20, 1993, she married the love of her life, Darry Hobson. After marriage, she became a beloved member of Kone Hill M. B. Church with her husband, under the leadership of Pastor Curtis R. McAfee, Sr. Stephanie served as chairperson for the Family and Friends Day and she was excited to call all of her family and friends and say, “Family and Friends Day is on the fourth Sunday in September, mark your calendars.” Stephanie was also an active member and advocate for the American Federation for the Blind. Stephanie graduated from Pearl High School in 1986, and attended Hinds Community College, Raymond, Mississippi where she majored in Culinary Arts because of her passion for baking and cooking like her mother and her sister, Gwen. Stephanie was a pre-school teacher at GG's Daycare for many years where she was loved by her students, parents and faculty. Stephanie Kay Jenkins Hobson was called home to be with the Lord on October 1, 2020, at 6:45 a.m., at University Medical Center with her dedicated husband by her side. Stephanie was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Edna Jenkins; sister, Gwendolyn J. Willis; grandmother, Marcella Jenkins; aunt, Margaret Michaels; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Clemmie and Jake Jenkins; nephew, Timothy Jenkins; brothers-in-law, Donny Hobson, Ronnie Hobson, Jerry Keyes and L.C. Lewis. Stephanie leaves to cherish her memories, a loving and devoted husband of twenty-six plus years, Darry Hobson; beloved father, Obadiah Jenkins, Sr. of Pearl, MS; three brothers, Obadiah (Connie) Jenkins, Jr. of Brandon, MS; Gerald Wayne Jenkins of Pearl, MS; Patrick (Carmelia) Jenkins of Terry, MS; two sisters, Kathy Jenkins and Phyllis Jenkins, both of Jackson, MS; two brothers-in-law, Welton (Georgia) Singleton of Pearl, MS; Rudolph Hobson of Jackson, MS; two sisters-in law, Patricia Keyes and Bonnie Lewis; six Godchildren, Laperia Shoto, Jasmine Brinston Wells, Charles Lee Brinston, II, Ariel Shoto, Gabriel Shoto, Kaitlyn Ainsworth and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
