July 29, 1944 - May 23, 2021
Wessie Mae Scott was born July 29, 1944 to the late Mr. Wesley and Mrs. Mary Crosby Stubbs. Four of her six siblings also preceded her in death. She attended and graduated from Carter High School and was married to David Lee Scott for more than 55 years. To this longstanding union, three children were born, one daughter and two sons. Her daughter Barbara Lynn Robinson preceded her in death. She was a longtime member of Greater New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church of Brandon, Mississippi. The church was where she raised her three children. The church is also where she faithfully served as a member of the choir and in the fullness of time became a loyal Mother of the church until her health no longer permitted her to do so. After retiring from Mississippi State Hospital, she obtained her cosmetology license and ultimately opened her own salon, her true labor of love. She departed this life on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at her home with her two sons by her side. She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons - David Len Scott (Carla) and David Tyron Scott (Jia), both of Brandon, Mississippi; her brother, John Curtis Stubbs of Brandon, Mississippi; sister Dora Dean Moore of Brandon, Mississippi, her grandchildren, Monica Adams (Richard) of West Virginia, Wesley Jerrell Jones (Hope) of West Virginia, Meagan Ward (DeAndre') of Starkville, Mississippi and Evan Scott of Brandon, Mississippi; six great-grandchildren - Weslan, Zamira, Ethan, Kaiden, Alaila and J.R.; one of her closest friends, Mother Armstrong and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
