Mr. Clifton Jackson, Jr.

Clifton Jackson, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, was born on September 17, 1952, in Jackson, Mississippi, to the late Clifton and Lena Mae Jackson. He graduated from Jim Hill High School in Jackson, MS, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with hard work and dedication. Clifton attended THEE Jackson State University. In 1973, Clifton embarked on a distinguished professional career as a tool and die maker for Delphi Automotive Systems, also known as Packard Electric. Over the course of 34 years, until his retirement in 2007, Clifton’s work ethic and commitment to excellence earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. After his retirement from Delphi, Clifton started his own trucking business, Big C Trucking LLC, which he operated until his health no longer allowed him to. Beyond his career, Clifton was a man of many interests. He found joy in the great outdoors, spending countless hours hunting, fishing, and golfing. His passion for sports extended to basketball, football, and baseball, where he not only participated but also shared his love of the games by coaching and mentoring youth. Clifton’s personal life was rich with love and family. He married Sherry Sturgis, and together they were blessed with two sons, Demond and Mario Jackson. Later, Clifton found love again and married Carolyn Grant, with whom he welcomed a daughter, Candace Jackson. His family was the center of his world, and he took immense pride in his role as a father and grandfather. Clifton cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren. He was a storyteller, a source of wisdom, and always ready with a joke to bring a smile to their faces. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched. Clifton is preceded in death by his parents, Clifton Jackson, Sr. and Lena Mae Jackson, and his sister, Delores Jackson. His memory will forever be cherished by those he leaves behind: his loving wife, Carolyn Grant Jackson; his two sisters, Bobbie Jackson of Jackson, MS, and Ella (Everett) Butler of Pearl, MS; his two sons, Demond (Mercae) Jackson of Portland, Oregon, and Mario (Christy) Jackson of Houston, TX; his daughter, Candace (Kelajah) Jackson-Shepard of Pearl, MS; three stepdaughters, Kamekia Grant of Richland, MS, Freda (Stephen) Grant-Nolden of Jackson, MS, and Chrisshon Grant of Pearl, MS; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
