Ms. Emmer Jean Hoard

Emmer Jean Hoard was born on September 5, 1941 to the late Freddie and Cozette Jefferson within the Gulde Community, between Pelahatchie and Brandon, MS. She was known to family, friends, and extended love ones as our beloved "Sistha". She was the only girl given to Papa Fred and Grandma Cozy and held her own amongst 5 brothers. Sistha departed this earthly vessel on January 19, 2024. Sistha was baptized as an outward confession of her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and joined Jordan Grove Missionary Baptist Church where her family attend. She was married to Jimmie Dale Hoard, Sr., and from this union were born two children, Jimmie Dale Hoard, Jr. and Bonnie Hoard. After her marriage, she returned to Jordan Grove where she was a member for decades, ending her service as a Church Mother until her departure. She like many in her day attended school at Jordan Grove and later transferred to McCall Attendence Center in Pelahatchie, MS. As a Single Mother of Jimmie, Etta, and Eric, she labored to see each graduate High School and further their education. She worked as a Nurse Assistance for the State of MS at Whitfield and retired after many years of service. Sistha was an avid Caregiver to her Parents and played a vital role in the lives of rearing her grandchildren, as well as a Sitter to others. She was an excellent cook specializing in homemade biscuits, fried chicken, cakes, pies, as well as many additional authentic delicacies. She like her Mother, Cozy, enjoyed chats with friends and FAM, as well as great discussion at length regarding the occasional plots of the soaps. Preceding her in death was her daughter Bonnie Hoard who died as an infant, both Parents, Freddie and Cozette Jefferson, brothers A.J. Jefferson, James Albert Jefferson (Pee Wee); her son, Jimmie Dale Hoard, Jr., and brothers, Johnny Ray Jefferson (Ground) and Lay Vent Jefferson (Benny). Sistha leaves to cherish her memories, a brother, Freddie Jefferson II (Bertha) Milwaukee, WI; one daughter, Etta Hobson Barnes (Gary) of Jackson, MS; one son, Eric C. Hoard of Brandon, MS and a daughter-n-law, Vickie Hoard of Brandon, MS, along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 2 TIM 2:3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
