Mr. Joseph Willie Savoie, Sr.

Mr. Joseph Willie Savoie, Sr. was born on December 13, 1956 in Lafayette, Louisiana to the late Mr. Ashton and Ruby W. Savoy. On June 4, 2019 at his home in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, God called him home and gave him his wings. His parents Ashton and Ruby Savoy, brother Ashton Savoy, Jr. and one sister Ethel Savoy preceded him in death. He grew up in Sunset, Louisiana where he attended and graduated with honors from Sunset High School. He later went to Bay St. Louis Seminary. Later, he studiesd at USL to be a Pharmacist. In 1975, he joined the United States Navy where he was an electronic equipment repair man. He was discharged from the Navy under honorable conditions. In 1982, he met his wife Ilene Quick in 1985. They became married and from the union, one son was born, Joseph W. Savoie, Jr. and one daughter Shemika Houseton. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 34 years, Ilene Savoie; his son Joseph W. Sa voie (Latoya), his daughter, Shemika Houseton ( Melvin) all in Hattiesburg,, Mississippi; two granddaughters Nasheka Houseton of Brandon, Mississippi and Tieshe Houseton of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; three grandsons, Leroyal, My King and Gabriel, all of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; one brother Ashby Savoy of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; seven sisters, Sherrie Briscoe of Grand Coteaula, Louisiana, Carrie Mae Chevis of Lafayette, Louisiana, Sara Jane Lee and Cynthia Clark of Riverdale, Georgia, Teresa Sims (Henry) Baytown, Texas, Kathy S. Young (Willie) of Kenner, Louisiana, Jacqueline S. Washington (Gregory) of Grand Coteau, Louisiana; two Godchildren, Juan Ballard and Darkus Ballard; one uncle Willie Walker; two aunts, Dorothy Sampy and Evmona Savioe; seven sisters-in-law, seven brothers-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews. Special People in his life were Mrs. Carol Thompson of the VA Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. She was not only his nurse, she was like family and he had a special love for her. She went above and beyond the call of duty and the family will love her forever. Vone Thurman was like a sister and the family will always love her. The Haloyon Team was the best in Hattiesburg along with Mrs. Alrlena, Mrs. Laurel, Pastor Daniel, Pastor Danny and Social Worker Shelby Burton. Thank you very much to Mrs. Kay Kay Cole (AKA) Peaches, a sister and friend, love you always. A special thanks to West Point Baptist Church, Pastor Marcus Cathy, all the associate pastors, to the nursing home and the prayer team for all of their love and support to the Savoie family.
