Mrs. Juanita B. Harris

An exemplary woman and devoted servant. Over her 77 years, Juanita embraced a range of significant roles-daughter, sister, wife, hero, mom, granny, great-granny, and friend. Her heart of gold exuded warmth and compassion, evident in her selfless acts of kindness, attentive listening, and comforting hugs. Juanita Blackmon Harris, a beloved soul and cherished member of our family, peacefully transitioned from this world on December 2, 2023 at 2:39 am at Rankin Medical surrounded by the love of her family. Juanita was born on May 21, 1946, She was the second of eight children of the late Eva and Virgil Blackmon. Juanita's early years were spent in the close-knit community of Blackhawk, where she laid the foundation for a life characterized by love, faith, and unwavering dedication. As the second child among eight siblings, she embraced the values of family and community that would become hallmarks of her life. Her educational journey led her through the halls of schools in Carroll County, culminating in her graduation from Vaiden High School in 1964. Juanita's roots in Blackhawk remained dear to her heart even as life took her to Brandon, MS, where she continued to grow, thrive, and make lasting connections. From an early age, Juanita's spiritual path was evident as she embraced Christ while attending Jeff Chapel in BlackHawk, MS. Her faith continued to blossom at Trinity United Methodist Church in Brandon, MS, where she dedicated her time to serving on numerous committees until her health failed. Professionally, Juanita dedicated 25 years of her life to Hudspeth Center, where she served with diligence and compassion. Her impact extended far beyond the workplace, touching the lives of those she encountered with grace and kindness. Known for her generosity and caring spirit, Juanita was an active and devoted member of her community. Always ready to lend a helping hand, she volunteered tirelessly, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she touched. On May 7, 1967, Juanita embarked on a beautiful journey of love and commitment, joining in matrimony with the love of her life, Richard Harris. Their union was blessed with four children, whom Juanita considered among her proudest achievements. As a devoted wife and mother, she poured her love and wisdom into nurturing her family, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support. She was proceed in death by her parents, Eva and Virgil Blackmon, two brothers Romell Applewhite and Virgil Blackmon, Jr., mother in-law Modene Harris, one sister in-law Thelma Paige and four Brother in-laws. She leaves to cherish a loving husband Richard Harris, four children Juan Richy of Mark, MS, Sylvia, Jennifer and Shelia, Brandon, MS; Five Siblings Mae Etta Lymon, Margarett Robinson, Darleen (Earnest) Lewis all of Jackson, Veral Clyde) Green Aburdeen, NC, Pauline (Donald) Darjean Baton Rougue, LA; Three sister in-laws Irene Denson Brandon, MS, Sherry (Mike) Johnson. Leontyne Roby Pearl, MS. 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. One godchild, Jospeh Crains and a whole host of nieces, nephews, relatives, church family and friends. Juanita B. Harris leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service. While we mourn her physical absence, we celebrate the beautiful tapestry of memories she leaves behind. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory continue to inspire and comfort those who were privileged to know her.
