Ms. Linda Evans

Linda Evans, affectionately known as "Lynn," was born September 11, 1962, in Brandon Mississippi. She was the second child of Louise Evans and Clay Redd. In 1967, Lynn relocated to Chicago, Illinois, with her mom and older brother. It was in Chicago that she was baptized and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. As a child, she spent a lot of time with her uncles and aunts and grew up with their children as her brothers and sisters. Those bonds lasted her entire life. She attended Percy Julian High School on the South Side of Chicago. Lynn loved to shop and hang out with her cousins, while getting up to typical teenage antics. A few years after high school, she met and fell in love with Leroy Singleton. Shortly after, she gave birth to her only child, Brenda. Lynn took motherhood very seriously and was a truly devoted and loving mother. She held numerous jobs, including positions at BT Publix, De Vry Institute and Calumet Park Police Department. After her mother, Louise, suffered a stroke, Lynn relocated to Jackson, Mississippi, to take care of her. Lynn ultimately devoted her life to caring for others, and was a long-time caregiver to both her mother and Mr. Bernard Kelly, until their passings. She was preceded in death by her mother Louise Evans-Stewart; her uncle and father figure Percy Evans; Aunt Gladys and Uncle Cleo Jones who helped raise her; uncles Otis Evans, Arthur Evans, Earl Evans; and a host of other very special uncles, cousins and dear friends. On July 22, 2022, Lynn departed into eternal life. She leaves to cherish her memory, her only child - daughter and love of her life - Brenda Evans of Chicago. Her pride and joy, her only grandchild, Bryson Taylor. Her brothers, Mike Evans (Phyllis), of Richton Park, Illinois; Doug Irvin of Sandhill, Mississippi; and James Stewart of New Orleans. Nieces Brandi Moore, Jaime Osborne and Jamesha Stewart; and nephew Anthony Moore; she leaves aunties Earnestine Boutte, Louise Evans and Darlene Evans; Lynn is also survived by a host of first cousins who she considered siblings; a special "bonus daughter," Benita Jones; and numerous other friends and family members who she loved dearly. Lynn was truly a family person and loved to reach out and stay connected to everyone. Whether it was a call or her sending photos from the past, she made sure she stayed in contact with everyone. She was known for her beautiful smile, huge laugh and big personality. Lynn was such a giving person, and was the tie that bound so many together. We pray that in her absence, we will continue to share her goodness.
