Mrs. Lurlean Williams

Mrs. Lurlean Williams was born September 30, 1944, in Braxton, Mississippi, to the late J.T. Alexander and Inez Taylor Alexander. Lurlean accepted christ at an early age at Jerusalem MBC. Brandon, Ms. As a child she was in the choir her favorite songs, Oh Mary Don't you Weep and Run While The Sun is Shining. She was educated in the Rankin County School System graduating from McLaurin High School in Brandon, Mississippi, in the top of her class. Lurlean attended Alcorn State University in Lorman, Mississippi. During her time in college, she married the love of her life, Wendell Phillip Williams, Sr. To this union, six children were born: Following their marriage, Lurlean and Wendell migrated to Cleveland, Ohio, where he sought better opportunities for his growing family. Lurlean was a devoted homemaker—an excellent cook, a natural nurturer, and a woman who loved deeply. She cherished her children, her grandchildren, and all of the little ones who came through the family. If there was a baby in the room, everyone knew Aunt Lurlean would be the first to hold them. If that baby was crying or restless, Lurlean had a special, soothing touch that could calm them instantly. Many family members lovingly remember her as the dedicated babysitter of her nieces, grandchildren. She could always be depended on, giving was truly one of her God-given gifts. In 2005, Lurlean returned to her hometown of Braxton, Mississippi. She reinstatd her membership at Jerusalem MBC, under the leadership of Pastor, Rev Dennis Grant where she immediately became an usher, attending Sunday School and Bible Study faithfully. There, she learned to drive and began working in a kitchen in Star, Mississippi—doing one of the things she loved most: servitude. She discovered a joy for the outdoors. Keeping her lawn neat, beautiful, and well-maintained became part of her daily routine. She took great pride in her yard and found peace in tending to it. Lurlean was preceded in death by her beloved son, Wendell Williams, Jr.; her parents, J.T. and Inez Alexander; and her sisters, Annie Dora Alexander Hardy, Doris Jean Alexander Blankenship, and Gloria Dean Alexander Harper, her sweetheart Wendell Phillip Williams Sr. Forever cherished by her children Laveta Williams Steele South Euclid, OH, Zarita Moncell Williams of Highland Hills, OH, Arnettra Lasha Williams, of Cleveland, OH, Willie Shaundell Williams of Oakwood Village, OH, and Keisha Vadeta Malone (Emmanuel C. III-Fred) of Eastlake, OH. She leaves, ten grandchildren Aleisha Shaniece Williams, Shaquan Wyndell Williams, Laneisha Lurlean Harris, Juleyah Yanette Louise Williams, Dijaunte Willie Shaundell Williams, Emmanuel C. Malone IV-Furb, Keilah Kaneisha Germaine Steele, Tilneisha Rashay Malone, Kimleisha Jeanice Steele. Three great grandchildren Aniyjah Kelly, Aaliyah and Amiyah Willis. her loving sister, Elouise Alexander McLaughlin; Twin Brothers J.T. Alexander, J.D. Alexander, of Braxton, Mississippi In-Laws Ronald McLaughlin, Aaron Hardy Sr., Leroy Harper, Martha Ann Williams, Mattie Williams Reid, Rev. Dock Williams, Rev. Charles Williams Sr. (Lenora) A host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends and church members. Lurlean lived a life of service, love, and quiet strength. Her gentle spirit. A woman of few words, a beautiful smile as she was a true Proverbial 31 woman the warmth she carried will forever be remembered by all who knew her
