Mrs. Mamie Lee Brownridge

Mrs. Mamie L. Cade Brownridge was born on November 28, 1928, in Sandhill, Mississippi, to the late Dan and Laura Evans. Surrounded by the love of her parents and eight siblings, she was raised in a close-knit family where faith, hard work, and love were cherished. On June 18, 2026, she peacefully departed this earthly life, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion. Mamie received her education in the Rankin County School System, attending Union Grove School in Sandhill, Mississippi, and later the original Rogers High School in Canton, Mississippi. As a young woman, Mamie met Joseph Lee, and the two quickly fell in love. They were united in marriage, and to this union one son, Robert James Lee, was born on September 13, 1948. Although their marriage did not endure, Mamie and Joe maintained a lifelong friendship built on mutual respect and affection. Later, Mamie moved to Jackson, Mississippi, where she continued building a life grounded in faith and service. Having been raised in the church, she joined Mt. Helm Baptist Church, where she faithfully worshipped for many years. She was a dedicated member of the Adult Choir and the Ollie Love Bible Class, serving her church family with love and commitment. God blessed Mamie with a second chance at love when she met Anderson Cade, affectionately known as "Slim." They were united in holy matrimony and shared a loving and devoted marriage until his untimely passing. Years later, she was reunited with a childhood friend, Mr. Hugh D. Brownridge. Their rekindled friendship blossomed into a beautiful marriage that brought both of them great joy and companionship until his passing. Mamie was a dedicated employee of Frito-Lay in Jackson, Mississippi, where she worked as a machinist. Throughout her career, she earned the respect and admiration of her coworkers and formed many lasting friendships. After years of faithful service, she retired in 1990. Even after retirement, Mamie remained active in her church and community until declining health no longer allowed her to attend. Her quiet strength, warm smile, unwavering faith, and loving spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Mamie was preceded in death by her parents, Dan Evans and Laura Evans; three brothers, John Henry Evans, Robert D. Evans and James Ray Evans; one sister, Ethel Lawson; and her husband, Mr. Hugh D. Brownridge. She leaves to cherish her precious memory her devoted son, Robert James Lee, Sr. (Sherrie); five loving grandchildren: Ethel Lee Frost (Cassandra), Michael Vincent Lee (Claudia) of Tucson, Arizona, Robert James Lee, Jr. (Lisa) of Jackson, Mississippi, Nekesia Lee of Jackson, Mississippi, and Crystal Williams of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; three sisters Eunice Walker, Myrtis Orr, and Katherine Taylor; thirteen great-grandchildren; a host of great-great-grandchildren; a special friend Mr. Sherrod Turner, and a loving circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory. Mamie's life was a beautiful testimony of faith, perseverance, love, and grace. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.
