Mr. Martel Beaver

Martel Marty Beaver was the first son born to the late Sharron Harris and Earlene Brown-Sewell. His birth occurred on a Thursday, November 23, 1961, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His transition occurred on a Saturday morning, March 23, 2024, at Merit Health River Oaks Hospital, Flowood, Mississippi. Marty grew up in the Northview Heights (Northside) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age while attending church with his Aunt Annie. He attended and graduated from Perry Traditional Academy, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1980. In 1989, Marty relocated his home to Brandon, Mississippi. He worked several jobs: B.C. Rogers Distribution Center (2nd and 3rd shift supervisor); Coca-Cola Enterprises Bottling Company (Driver/Night supervisor); UMMC (Energy Management Technician); and a Pipeline worker (Reading, PA, West Virginia, and Texas). Marty was currently employed by M&D Transportation as a driver. In 1995, he met and fell head over heels in love with a young lady who started calling Lackey. They both started and built a beautiful relationship together and, later, united in holy matrimony on August 1, 2009. They were blessed together with one son, three daughters, and an additional six grandchildren. Marty became a member of Good Hope M. B. Church, Florence, Mississippi, under the leadership of Pastor Kevin C. Thomas. He loves going to church and being a part of the Good Hope M.B. Church family. Marty was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steeler Fan, and he wore it with pride on his hat, shirt, and having signs displayed on his vehicles. He enjoys working in the yard at home, traveling and visiting other states with his wife and family, working out at Planet Fitness, fishing with friends, and having a family gathering with his family and friends. Marty has moved to his new home to spend out eternity with loved ones gone on before him: His father, Sharron Harris; mother, Earlene Brown-Sewell; sister, Renee D. Lowry; grandparents, Preston and juanita Harris and Rosie Brown-Ford; Great-grandmother, Sallie M. Potter; nephew Delijah James; step-uncle, Anthony Sewell; and mother-in-law, Glander F. Lackey. He leaves to cherish his unforgettable memories: His final and most difficult task was to leave his devoted wife, Kim Lackey-Beaver, Florence, MS; and those he cherished, his son, Maurice Lowry, Pittsburgh, PA; and his three daughters, Markeya Lowry, Pittsburgh, PA, Kadejia Gary, Pearl, MS and Keya Gary, Atlanta, GA. His grandchildren: Maurice, Jr., Maxamus, Mathias, Marissa, Navi, and Jayce. His step-father, Valentina Sewell, Pittsburgh, PA. Six brothers, William Strong, James Kessler, Sharron (Nicole) Harris, Ir., Manis Harris, and Jermale Harris, are all of Pittsburgh, PA, and Daryl Harris, Austin, Texas. Two sisters, Christina and Valerie Bey, Pittsburgh, PA. Brothers-in-Laws: Nikeith Brown, Crystal Springs, MS; Brad Harvey, Bolton, MS; Linnell 'Lindsey' Gatlin, Ir.; Jackson, MS; Brandon Coleman, Flora, IN; and Fred Lackey, San Diego, CA. Sisters-in-Laws: Veronica Lackey, Brandon, MS, Althie Brown, Jackson, MS, and Patricia (Dwight) Crisler, Crystal Springs, MS. Fathers-in-Law: Eddie Craig, Jackson, MS and Willie B. Kendrick, Crystal Springs, MS. He also leaves special memories: Aunts/Uncles: Brenda Harris, of Aliquippa, PA, Phil Allen, Allen Harris, Ronnie Harris, and Wilbert (Uncle Bubba) Harris, all of Pittsburgh, PA.
