Ms. Mary Catherine Reed

A mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many, Mary Catherine Proctor was born on March 29, 1957, in Brandon, Mississippi, to Robert "Hank" Dawson and Ola Mae Stapleton Proctor. Mary received her early education at Carter High School in Brandon, MS, and later continued her training through Job Corps in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Much of her career was devoted to serving others during her employment at Mississippi State Hospital. Mary was known for her fierce love and unwavering Loyalty to her family and friends. She did not play when it came to the people she loved. She told you the truth exactly how it was, but still wrapped you in unconditional love. She had a special gift. She could tell you about yourself and then pray for you in the same breath. Mary's Christian journey began at an early age. She sang in the choir and participated actively in various church ministries throughout her youth. Although life took her through some difficult seasons, her faith never left her heart. About fifteen years ago, Mary rededicated her life to Christ and became a faithful member of Rehoboth International Ministries in Pearl, Mississippi, where she served and worshipped until her passing After raising her children in Mississippi, Mary spent most of her life there before moving to Lithonia, Georgia, to live with her children Paulette and Gary Jonathan. Mary leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and faith. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, James Reed Jr.; her parents, Robert "Hank" Dawson and Ola Mae Stapleton Proctor; and her cherished siblings: Lonnell McGee (Gennette) Author Magee (Katy), Jimmy Magee (Barbera), Howard Proctor (Ruby) and Charles Bird. She is survived by her three children: Gary Jonathan Parker and Paulette Coleman in Lithonia, Georgia, and Daryen Proctor (Mechelle) of Jackson, Mississippi. She also leaves to cherish her memory her siblings: Evelyn Young, James Proctor (Geraldine), Earnest Proctor (Bobby), Robert Lee Spann (Carolyn) and Betty Sykes (Charley); her grandchildren: LaRoderick Hardy, Ricca Otesia Dimitri) Proctor, Jocquai Proctor, Daryen Proctor Jr., Jaylon Proctor, Corey Proctor, Trey Proctor, Javeon Green, Javyan McNight, Kennedi Proctor, Lincoln Proctor and Ashton Proctor; and 25 great-grand kids. She also leaves behind her lifelong friend of 60 years, Nita Quarles, along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, church family, and friends who loved her deeply. Mary's life was a testament to strength, honesty, humor, and unwavering faith. She loved boldly, prayed faithfully, and lived with a heart big enough to hold everyone she cared about. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will continue to shine through the many lives she touched.
