Ms. Mary Louise Wilson

Mary Louise Wilson was born on July 16, 1954, in Rankin County, MS, to the late Clarence Steele and the late Lillian Wilson Steele. She gained her heavenly wings on July 3, 2026. She was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Demond Wilson; her brothers, Richard C. Dobson and Clarence Steele, Jr.; and her sister, Laura Ann Harvey. Mary was simply known for being Mary. She was a lifelong resident of Rankin County and attended Carter High School. She went on to work for the Rankin County School District and the Pearl Public School District, where she faithfully served for many years until retirement. Mary accepted Christ at an early age and later became a faithful and dedicated member of Pine Valley M.B. Church in Brandon, Mississippi, under the leadership of Rev. Clarence Bryant Sr. She served her church in many capacities with love and dedication. In her spare time, Mary was an avid reader, enjoyed working puzzles, and treasured spending time with her family. She never met a stranger and had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome. Two of her dearest friends, who became family, were Annie Sutton and Bessie Peterson. Mary will always be remembered for the love and care she shared through her gift of braiding hair. To many, she was more than a hairstylist—she was a listening ear, a source of encouragement, and someone who made everyone who sat in her chair feel beautiful, valued, and loved. Her talent, warm smile, and kind heart touched countless lives, leaving behind memories that will never fade. Although she is no longer with us, her legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Mary leaves to cherish her precious memories her son, Joshua Terrell (Katrina) Steele and grandsons, Bralen and Brandon Steele, all of Brandon, MS; stepson, Mike Harvey of Brandon, MS; special friend, Tony Ingram of Pearl, MS; ten sisters; Ruby Jean Harvey, Irene Banks, Minnie (Derwin) Myers, Earnestine Steele, Jeannette (David) Ware, Lillie Steele, Mattie Thompson, Jessie Lee (Alfred) Thomas, Missy Harris, and Mary (Jessie) Washington, all of Brandon, MS; four brothers, John (Gena) Harvey of Oakland, CA; Freddie Wilson and Ray Collier of Brandon, MS; and Roosevelt (Debra) Steele of Jackson, MS; sister-in-law, Catherine Dobson of North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
