Mr. Maurice Amos

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me." Psalm 23 Maurice Amos, one of six children born to Fred and Annie May Amos, entered this world on January 2, 1938. Maurice's parents deeply immersed him in the word of God that would become the source of his strength in life. Maurice's faith to God continued throughout his adult life. He transitioned to his eternal home on July 11, 2022. Maurice was a retired business car salesman and owner of a janitorial service. Maurice was married over 63 years to Agnes Thames Amos. The love that Maurice and Agnes shared was apparent by those who were blessed to know them. The couple was often loving, caring and supportive to their four beautiful children that were raised with guidance, wisdom, humility, and plenty of love. Remaining to treasure precious memories are his loving wife, Agnes Amos; children; Meloney Amos of Richland, Mississippi, Sonja Amos Carter of Montgomery, Alabama, Rickey Tyrone Amos (deceased-husband of Danna Amos) and Sheranda Amos of Richland, Mississippi; grandchildren, Ricky J. Amos, Rashad L. Amos (future husband of Diamond Roberts), Sonnisha J. Amos, Dezhane M. Amos, Maurice M. Amos (husband of Jonnessa Amos), Rickey T. Amos, Jr., and Synia J. Amos; great grandchildren, Eleachier J. Amos, Dylan J. Sayles, Jonnaé M. Amos, Rashad Amos, Jr., Raleigh Amos, and Nola R. Amos; siblings, Lorraine Thomas (wife of Willie Thomas), Sharon Hobbs (wife of Joseph Hobbs); and Curtis Amos (husband of Lucy Mae Amos); and aunt, Lorraine Wilks (oldest aunt on his mother's side). Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Annie Amos; his brother and sister-in-law, Clement and Essie Mae Amos; and his sister, Elaine Williams (wife of Doc Williams). The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD; and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand, I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed. Psalm 37:23-26
