Mr. Richard "Peter" Spann, Sr.

A time to be born: Born to George Spann and Bettie Hobson on May 14, 1936. He was one of 13 children. At an early he joined Friendship church and remained faithful until his death. A time to live: He attend Carter High School, where he played basketball. He joined the U.S. Army April 4, 1955, where he was station in West Point, New York. He had an honorable discharge. He held many capacity at his church he loved so dear. In 1962 he married his high school sweetheart, Dessie Ree Trigg Spann. to this union 3 children was born. "Peter" known by his family and friend, he retired 3 times then he became an Entrepreneur selling his goods he found in resident garbage. He went back and obtain his GED from Rankin School. Upon graduation they put the name of graduate in the Rankin County News, he purchase every copy he could get his hands on and disturbed through out Brandon to family and friends. He was an avid hunter, he loved fishing, baseball, basketball, his favorite football team was the San Francisco 49"s. He lived for moments with his family from near and far. His major accomplish when he received his PHD in Theology degree from Baptist seminary. A time to die: Peter departed the life on Monday, November 10, 2025 at 11:58 pm He was proceeded in death by his parents, George and Betty Hobson; his siblings; Henry, Haywood, Norwood, Roscoe, Tommie, Arthur, Sandy, LeRoy, Marvin, Betty Ruth, Georgia, Elsie, his granddaughter LaSidra Spann. A time to mown: Richard leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Shornita (James) Shavers, two sons; Richard (Michelle) Spann, Jr. of Brandon, MS; and Roland (Charlotte) Spann of Collins, MS; four grandsons; Cedric (Shandrea Spann of Utica, MS; Quinton Shavers (Shannon) and Richard Spann Ill of Brandon, MS, and Davion Owens of Mt. Olive, MS; two granddaughters Kennedy Owens of Mt. Olive, MS and Kailey Spann of Brandon, MS; Great grandchildren; Owen Spann of Brandon, MS; Jayce, Jabari, Laya Spann, of Utica, MS; Lailah of Ruston. LA, LaDea of Mount Olive, MS. He also leaves to cherish his memory sister in laws, Dorothy Bryant of Flowood, MS; Lee Mary Burton, Delois Trigg of Pearl, MS; Shirley Spann and Flosie Jones of Brandon, MS, Mary Alice (Kilvin) Griffin, Shirley Trigg, Clara Mae Trigg of Jackson, MS; two brother in laws; John (Thelma) Trigg and Tony (Floree) Trigg of Pearl, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. The legacy He was the only surviving Spann. May his legacy live on thru his Sons, grandson, great grand children, nieces and nephews and all those who loved him.
