Deacon Roy Andra Green

"A TIME TO BE BORN" - Roy Andra Green was born on October 29, 1962 in the Capital City of Jackson, Mississippi to Velma Lee Green. "A TIME TO SOW" - Roy accepted Christ at an early age, and worshipped in the United Methodist Church. He resided in Jackson, Mississippi before relocating to Brandon, Mississippi. He later met Twanda Walker, his future wife of Brandon, Mississippi. Roy was a God-fearing, humble man of few words but full of wisdom. After joining Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church under the leadership of Dr. Ava S. Harvey, Sr., his distinct and upright character shifted him into the role of Trustee and Deacon. His other duties performed but were not limited to, general maintenance of the church's heating and cooling system. "A TIME TO BUILD" - After graduating from Pearl High School, He was not afraid of work but on the contrary, Roy believed in work to provide for his family. His job for over 40 years was at Rankin Medical Center, currently referred to as Merit Health Rankin as a Maintenance Technician. Often, he would answer the call for help of community citizens who needed his expertise as a maintenance technician at their home. "A TIME TO LOVE" - He was united in holy matrimony to Twanda Walker and this union catapulted into a beautiful blended family, Courtney, Cory, Travis, Keyanna and Ma Joy. "A TIME TO REAP" - He enjoyed hunting, spending quality time with family and watching sports. Also, he loved attending Bible Study, Sunday School and Worship Service. "A TIME OF PEACE" - On February 9, 2025, angels descended from Heaven to carry Deacon Roy Green home to be with the Lord. Here he joined parents, friends and family members such as his late brother in law, Darryl Walker and grandson, Chance Walker in glory. "A TIME TO DIE" - Deacon Roy Green leaves to cherish his memories and continue his legacy: His devoted wife, Twanda; three daughters, Courtney Green, Keyanna Austin and Ma'Joy Easterling; two sons, Cory (Jessica) Holliman and Travis (LaKeisha) Walker; nine (9) grand children; three (3) sisters, Pamela A. Shanell, Deborah A. Pierre and Carolyn L. Shavers; one (1) brother, Joe Burrell Lewis, Jr.; two (2) sisters-in-law: Beverly Walker and LaShanda Walker; mother-in-law, Ruby J. Walker; father-in-law, John H. Walker and he also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were near and dear to his heart.
