Mrs Ruby Lee Jones

Mother Ruby Lee Jones was born May 7, 1938, in Brandon, Mississippi, to the late Letha Webb-Williams and Lester Williams. Her Family and friends knew Mother Jones as "Mother Tip" She was an affectionate well known, wife, mother, spiritual leader, church leader, secretary, mentor, and prayer warrior. Mother Jones accepted, confessed, and acknowledged that Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior and joined Saint Hill COGIC under Elder L. C. Hawthorne at an early age. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Deacon Clarence Jones, Sr. on November 1, 1953. To this union, five beautiful children were born. Mother Jones became one of the founding members of Miracle Temple Church of Deliverance under the leadership of Dr. Thomas Jefferson "TI" Calhoun, where she remained faithful for over 60 years even in sickness. She wore many hats during her time and served as a Sunday School teacher, usher, church secretary, a part of Pastor's Aide committee, a Mother, a dedicated prayer warrior, a bus driver and a cook. Mother Jones enjoyed learning and service to others. She attended Carter High School and learned the importance of reading, writing and arithmetic. She learned the value of hard work from her parents. She began working at Mississippi State Hospital in the early 1960s as a direct care worker. She returned to school during her time there, earning her GED in 1978. She studied and became the direct care supervisor at the hospital and worked until her retirement Dec. 31, 1991. Her love of children brought her back to the work force, working at Little Angels Daycare in Brandon and at the Rankin Medical Center Daycare. Aside from her career, she was a pillar of the community. She attended prayer meetings and church services at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church and other churches in the community. Mother Ruby Lee Jones transitioned to Heaven on Sunday, August 27, 2023 in her home of over forty years at Evergreen Cove in Brandon, Mississippi. Mother Jones was preceded in death by her parents Letha Palmer and Lester Williams; three brothers, Eddie B. Williams, Will Henry Palmer and James Palmer Jr.; two sisters, Willie Lee McLaurin and Mary Ellen Jefferson; and one daughter, Gloria Jean McNair. To cherish her memory, she leaves four children; Thelma L. (John) Taylor, Clarence (Yvonne) Jones, Perry D. (Dora) Jones, and Connie R. Jones. She also leaves 18 grandchildren; Dallas, Requila, Bethany, Ember, Dianna, Jonathan, Joanna, Brianna, Jayla, Channing, Cammeron, Charity, Christian, Andrea', Natasha, Vershawn, Brandon, and Connie A.; a sister-in-law Betty Jones; a brother-in-law John H. (Ruby) Walker, special cousin Mary Ann Logan; 28 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family and friends.
