Mr. Spencer Lee Adams

Spencer Lee Adams was born on June 6, 1939, to proud parents Lee and Ruth Adams in Fannin, Mississippi. He was the seventh child of eleven. He was preceded in death by his Parents Joe Lee and Ruth, his sisters Bessie, Louise, Bernice, his brothers Joe Willie, Glenn, Lonnie and John Quincy. Spencer attended Fannin Public Schools throughout elementary and high school. He received his Bachelor's degree from Jackson State College and his Master's degree from Roosevelt University. He was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He started his career as an educator for the Chicago Board of Education as a teacher and retired 35 years later as a school district administrator. Spencer was a great golfer and a member of the Putter's Golfing Club where he attended many tournaments throughout the 70's and 80's. He loved wearing bright colors when he golfed. His greatest treasure in life was his family. He returned home to Fannin often to spend time with family and reconnect with his roots. Spending time with his family was always a special time for him. He was active with the Chadwick Family Reunion and the RAWTOP Family Reunion until his health began to fail. Spencer accepted Christ at an early age. He renewed his relationship with God in 1997 when he joined the Sweet Holy Spirit FGBC Church in Chicago, Illinois where he served as a deacon. Upon returning to Mississippi, he moved to Bassfield and joined Progress Missionary Baptist Church where he also served as a Deacon. He loved serving God and his people. Spencer met and married Claudia Thompson and they lived in Bassfield Mississippi for over 18 years. Spencer and Claudia were inseparable and enjoyed visiting family and driving up and down the highway together. Claudia was the love of his life, best friend, and supportive caretaker. Spencer peacefully departed this life on June 13, 2024, a week after his 85th Birthday and got his best birthday present ever, his crown of glory. He leaves to cherish many wonderful memories his devoted wife, Claudia Thompson Adams; four children: Sandra McKee Griffith, Marie "Nikki" McKee, Georgette Faye Adams, and Spencer Andre Adams (Courtney); two granddaughters Katisha Griffith and April Griffith Lanier (Chris); five great-grandsons: Timothy Young, Tahj Young, Tyler Sims, Caden Lanier and Axton Lanier. Children in love LaToya Thompson, Cynthia Thompson, Darryl Thompson, Jim Lowe (Shell) and Frank Lowe. He also leaves his loving siblings: Johnnie Anderson, Verdine Thompson and Rayfield Adams. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends loved him and will also cherish his memory.
