Ms. Sylvia Harris

Sylvia Harris was the epitome of living, loving, and being unapologetically herself. A devoted mother, daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend, she filled every space with love, laughter, and light. She was a go-getter, a giver, a fighter, and the Queen of nicknames—always embracing the spotlight and bringing joy to those around her. On February 25, 2025, Sylvia peacefully transitioned from this world at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 23, 1971, she was the second of four children of Richard E. Harris and the late Juanita B. Harris. Sylvia accepted Christ at an early age at Pleasant Grove and grew up in the Taylorsville community of Brandon, MS. She attended Northwest Rankin High School in Flowood, where she played softball and basketball, later earning her GED. She worked at Burger King, Hudspeth Regional Center in Pearl, and Wal-Mart, where she built lifelong friendships. She also pursued her passion for beauty by attending cosmetology school and becoming a licensed cosmetologist. Above all, Sylvia treasured her children John, Chris, and Eboni and embraced every moment with them, finding pure joy in her role as a grandmother. She had a vibrant personality and could always make those around her laugh or smile. A stranger to no one, she found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—spending time outdoors, cooking, dancing, watching Judge Judy, enjoying coffee, and sharing memes and videos with loved ones. She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Harris, and her grandparents, Eva and Virgil Blackmon (maternal) and Modene and Jeff Harris (paternal). She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving father, Richard Harris; her three children, John Harvey (Charlotte, NC), Christopher Harris, and Eboni McIntyre (Brandon, MS); her three siblings, Juanrichy Harris (Marks, MS), Jennifer Harris, and Shelia Harris (Brandon, MS); her beloved grandchild, Jersie Davis; eight aunts; seven nephews; five nieces; one great-nephew; and four great-nieces. Sylvia leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and perseverance. While we mourn her physical absence, we celebrate the beautiful memories she leaves behind. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory continue to inspire and comfort all blessed to know her
